Living in New Orleans-
Well here I am in the beautiful city of New Orleans and as myself 24/7. Things have evolved so quickly and in so many positive directions. First let me say that, in general, I'm a real lousy mover. This means that it takes me years, in most cases, to feel at ease and at home in a new location. This has not been the case with my move to New Orleans at all. I have come to feel totally at home in a very short period of time
Our
friend Elaine
was visiting and we just returned from having a wonderful Chinese dinner when
this was taken. The doorway you see leads from the office to the hallway.
It sure seems that the old days of going to work, coming home and sitting in front of the TV are long gone. We seem to have something happening almost every day/night. I've been meeting some great people and seem to be making friends at a pace that I have never experienced before. I guess that's what happens when you finally get to where you belong and can stop fabricating your image to the world. I have never felt this at ease and at peace with who I am and it's wonderful. I no longer think about who I am. I just am.
The most glaring difference about New Orleans compared with most of the other places are the people I have met. It seems that here the diversity of people breeds acceptance of one another as if we've learned to celebrate our difference's along with our similarities. This is my kind of town!
Another benefit of living here is the food which is nothing short of spectacular. We often bike through the French Quarter and the variety of aromas is sometimes overwhelming. I've lived in quite a few different places and overall I would say that New Orleans has the best food of any of them and I love Cajun cooking but then again I've always been a fan of spicy food. With all the wonderful places available I'm willing to bet it will take quite a few years to begin to have tried them all but I'll certainly give it my best effort.
Morwen and I will be doing reviews of the places we try so you have some idea of where you might like to go if and when you visit here.
